General information

The R3ASC international conference is organized by the School of Mechanical Engineering of the Institut National des Sciences Appliquées and the Institut Clément Ader  laboratory.

Initially established on a three year cycle, the conference is now held every even year in order to alternate with the Aircraft System Technology (AST) conference that is organized every odd year by the Institut für Flugzeug-Systemtechnik of the Technical University of Hamburg-Harburg.

The R3ASC'16 conference is scheduled March 16-18, 2016 in Toulouse, a leading aerospace industry city in Europe. It will be held at Hotel Mercure Compans Cafarelli that is located in Toulouse city center.

Presentations will begin at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, 16 March, 2016 and end on Friday, 18 March, 2016, at 12:30 a.m. The conference language will be English. On Wednesday evening, 16 March, 2016, the delegates will be welcomed for the conference banquet that will take place at the recently opened Aeroscopia museum of aerospace.

The date of the conference has been brought forward in order to enable the delegates to attend the public dissemination workshop of the European  FP7 research project ACTUATION2015: Modular Electro Mechanical Actuators for ACARE 2020 Aircraft and Helicopters that will be held on Tuesday, 15 March, 2016 (specific contact point and registration).

The aim of ACTUATION2015 is to decrease the overall life cost, improve reliability and reduce aircraft weight, by standardization of common modules.  In addition, the last session of Wednesday R3ASC conference will be dedicated to further development and exploitation of the ACTUATION2015 results by the industrial and academic main players, together with the standardization bodies and the Clean Sky 2 initiative.

For those delegates interested, one tutorial will be organized at INSA on Friday afternoon, 18 March, 2016. It will be dedicated to the preliminary design of actuators.
